Born in Bihar, India, Ray trained at the Government College of Arts and Crafts in Calcutta and has been exhibiting since 1962 in solo and group shows across the world. He is the winner of many awards and his works are in the collections of the Victoria and Albert Museum, London; National Gallery of Modern Art and Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi; Birla Academy, Calcutta; Pratt Graphic Centre, New York; Shilpa Kala Academy, Dhaka; Chittagong University Museum, Chittagong; Museum of Modern Art, Boghada; and H.K.
